From APCA's July 2009 NewsletterPresident's Message Dear APCA Members and Friends, It is my distinct honor and pleasure to welcome you to this issue of the APCA Newsletter! As we are half way into the year, 2009 has already shaped to be one of the most exciting and productive year for AT&T and APCA alike. The APCA National Board met in February to solidify and approve the APCA Vision and 5-Year Goals. The National Board as a whole committed to grow APCA’s membership, chapter, program, organizational and financial goals. Since then, Chapters have been aggressively implementing their respective goals, and I am glad to report that we are off to a great start. From your perspective, I hope you’ve witnessed the positive changes within your chapter in terms of the number of local activities and the frequency of communications. Speaking of activities, the Month of May was the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and many chapters held a variety of celebratory event(s). With that, we are dedicating this issue to provide a full view of the APAHM activities. I know all the chapters are planning many more activities for the second half of the year, so please stay tuned. Earlier this year, we announced that APCA will be holding the National Awards Banquet on September 19, 2009 in Atlanta. The hosting chapter has been working hard in pulling together an outstanding program to showcase the creativity, talent, skills and southern hospitality of the Atlanta Chapter. I know this is an event that you do not want to miss. On November 6-7, 2009, APCA along with the other ERGs will be hosting the first ever Joint ERG Conference in Dallas, Texas. We are very excited about this opportunity to collaborate with our colleagues from the other ERGs on such an endeavor. We are especially grateful to AT&T Senior Leadership for their enthusiastic support of such an event. This truly speaks volume of AT&T’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. This will definitely be a historic conference that we want to be a part of. Coming into 2009, I knew that this was going to be a great year with the APCA Advisory Board fully engaged and a great team of National and Chapter leaders in place. I hope you share my enthusiasm and I look forward to working with you to take APCA to a new level. Sincerely, David T. Lin
