APCA St. Louis Chapter Gateway 180 Project
Along with members
from local chapters of five other AT&T ERGs and Pioneers, APCA St. Louis
Chapter members participated in the Gateway 180 Project on 1/28/2012, the first ever combined ERG community service
project in St. Louis. Gateway 180: Homelessness Reversed is
a valuable resource for women and children experiencing the unimaginable burden
of homelessness. They provide safe, nurturing emergency shelter services
designed to get families into transitional or permanent homes in under 30 days.
AT&T volunteers adopted three rooms and a hallway to paint and redecorate
in order to make the residence more uplifting for its temporary residents. The
project was well-planned and beautifully executed, exceeding everyone's
expectation. The story
made into the local newspaper. You can view event photos here. //2012.01.28// |

On October 30th, the Northern CA chapter participated in the Halloween Howl dragonboat race at Lake Merritt, Oakland, CA.
This was a casual & fun race put on by the Renegades, one of the bay area dragonboat teams.
The APCA Dragons (our team name) won our co-ed and all women race, and more importantly, everyone had a blast.
After the race was over, all the teams got together for a potluck party.
There were tons of food, and a lot of hungry people to eat it all.
This year, our team consisted of some veterans who have paddled with us in previous years and some newcomers.
Some team members came as far as Sacramento, which is about an hour and a half away from the practice and race locations.
Everyone enjoyed it so much that we are now in the planning stages of starting our own year round team.
Check out the video
of our practice at the Berkeley Marina andpictures
on race day with our team sporting the custom-designed APCA Dragons shirt.

With support from the National Breast Cancer Foundation, volunteers
distributed educational materials and pink ribbons to everyone who
