The APCA Houston Dragon Boat team won the Community Cup at
the 6th Annual Gulf Coast International Dragon Boat Regatta held at Brooks Lake in Sugar Land, Texas, on October 17, 2009.

APCA Atlanta was host to the 2009 APCA National Awards banquet held on the evening of September 19th
at the Crowne Plaza Ravinia, Atlanta, Georgia.
This is APCA's main event for recognition and fundraising for the national scholarship program.
The event was well attended by over 125 guests.

The 2009 Dragon Boat Festival
was held at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue on September 12 with over 50 teams and 5,000 spectators.

A New Chapter in APCA's History
APCA Dallas/Ft. Worth Chapter is well on its way to official formation.
One month after an informative "meet and greet" session for potential members at AT&T's corporate headquarters in Dallas,
chapter officers have been elected and submitted to the APCA Executive Council for consideration.

The July 2009 issue is APCA's first quarterly National Newsletter.
Highlights include the president's
message and reports of APAHM celebrations across different chapters
submitted by respective presidents.

Members joined APCA advisors, National and chapter officers on May 14
to hear David Lin, National President, discuss APCA's 2009 strategy, plans, and goals.
The National Board highlighted the current
membership recruitment promotion
and the planning for the National Awards Banquet on Sept. 19 in Atlanta.

APCA has awarded a total of $9,000 in non-renewable scholarships to
thirteen high school seniors for the 2009 program year.

The Texas Dragon Boat Association hosted the 5th Annual Gulf Coast International Dragon Boat Regatta
that was held on October 18, 2008 at Brooks Lake in Sugar Land, Texas.
AT&T's Houston External Affairs and APCA Houston Chapter were the sponsors of the AT&T-APCA team
which competed in the corporate Premier Mixed division.

On Saturday September 13th, 2008, the 1996 Olympic venue for rowing and paddling at Lake Lanier came alive
with the 13th Annual Hong Kong Dragonboat Festival.

APCA 2008 National Award Recipients Named
This year APCA is honoring three individuals for their outstanding leadership, commitment, and service.
The APCA community will come together to recognize these individuals' achievements at the
National Awards Banquet in Fords, New Jersey on September 27.

and LEAGUE (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered United Employees of AT&T) jointly hosted an
AT&T Global Business Services speaker event on the topic of "Managing your career in the midst of change."

The United States Capitol Historical Society's Yielding the Floor is an oral history project
that highlights the crucial roles Asian Pacific Americans have played in American political history.
The documentary received its first public screening in May 2008.
On June 26, the APCA Northern California Chapter hosted a viewing at AT&T's San Ramon location.

Disaster Relief Fundraising
APCA chapters have been organizing to raise funds for the stricken areas of China and Myanmar.
Southern New Jersey Chapter, in partnership with
New Jersey - Asian Diversity and Networking Group at IBM,
collected $25,159 at the AT&T Middletown R&D location over three days of fundraising in May.
The donations were sent to four relief agencies:
Doctors Without Borders, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
(via American Red Cross), Simply Help, and Tzu Chi Foundation.

a lunchtime cultural show featuring performances by members and friends of APCA.

The 12th Annual Hong Kong Dragonboat Festival was
held last September 2007 at the site of the
1996 Olympic venue for Rowing and Paddling, at Lake
Lanier, Georgia. The main goal of the festival was to bring

to recognize the contributions and culture of the Asian community in Atlanta.
Belinda Grant Anderson (VP-HR-Leadership Dev & Diversity) gave the keynote speech.
Highlights of the celebration included five performances from different Asian cultures.
